Terms of Service

These Terms are a contract between you and the company operating LETHI, Lourdes 746, Moron, Buenos Aires, 1708, Argentina (“LETHI”, “we”, “us”). They govern your use of the LETHI Android application and the LETHI service.

By creating an account you accept these Terms and confirm you have read the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not create an account. If you stop accepting them, close your account — the app has a control for that and it is free.

LETHI is an assistant that looks at content you show it — a message, a link, a screenshot — and gives you its opinion on whether it looks like a scam, plus suggested steps. If you grant it the permissions described in §2.1, it also watches messaging-app notifications and phone-call activity for scam patterns and warns you when it finds one.

LETHI is not an emergency service. It does not contact the police, an ambulance, a fire service, a bank’s fraud line, or any emergency number on your behalf. It does not summon help. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number.

What LETHI watches, and what it does not. With your permission it reads the text of notifications from five messaging apps, and it knows when a phone call is in progress and which single app you opened during one. It does not read your screen, record or listen to calls, read your call log or your text messages, track your location, or look at your contacts.

Background protection is not a guarantee of detection. It sees a message only if the app that received it posts a notification you have not silenced, only if that app is one of the five, and only while the permission is granted. A scam delivered any other way — a call with no message, an app you muted, a channel LETHI does not cover — is one LETHI will not see. Nothing in this release detects everything, and we do not claim it does.

LETHI is not a bank, a payment service, an insurer, a law firm, a debt collector, an identity recovery service, or a substitute for professional legal, financial or security advice.

Background protection is off until you turn it on. Turning it on means granting, in Android’s own Settings:

• Notification Access — Read the text of notifications from WhatsApp, Telegram, Google Messages, Samsung Messages and Gmail — and nothing else on your device.
• Display over other apps — Draw the warning on top of the app you are in, so it reaches you at the moment it matters.
• Phone state — Know that a call is ringing, connected or ended. Not the number, not the audio, not the log.
• Usage Access — See which single app came to the foreground while a call is in progress, to warn you if a caller is steering you into your banking app or a remote-control app.

You may revoke any of them at any time, in the same Settings screens, without closing your account or losing anything you have already saved. Detection that depends on a revoked grant stops immediately. The rest of LETHI — showing it something and asking — keeps working.

What we do with the content these grants expose is set out in the Privacy Policy, §3.9. If you do not want it, do not grant it: nothing else in the service is withheld from you for saying no.

You must be 18 years of age or older. The service is not offered to minors, and we will close any account we learn belongs to one.

You need an account, a supported Android device, and an internet connection. Some features work without a connection, in a reduced and deliberately more cautious form.

• Give us accurate information and keep it current.
• You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself.
• Tell us at support@lethi.net if you believe your account has been used without your permission. You can also sign every other device out yourself, from Settings, and that takes effect immediately.
• You may close your account at any time from inside the app. We will ask you to confirm your identity first — a signed-in phone left unlocked is not enough to close an account. The closure is then carried out as a job rather than in the moment you tap; you can see its state in the app, and it completes even if you close the app or lose signal. Closing deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy, which also names the two things that survive it and why.
• Signing every other device out is immediate and takes effect on that device’s next request, not at its next sign-in.
• We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, that is used to attack the service, or where we are legally required to. Except where the law or a security emergency prevents it, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your data first.

LETHI can be wrong, in both directions. It can call a genuine message suspicious, and it can fail to recognise a real scam.

• We do not guarantee detection. We do not claim complete, guaranteed or comprehensive protection against scams or fraud, and no statement we make anywhere should be read that way.
• LETHI never tells you something is safe or legitimate. It cannot know that. Its outcomes are: not enough information, no risk signals found, and low, medium or high risk. “No risk signals found” means we did not find any — it is not a clearance, and there is no sixth outcome that says something is fine. Absence of a warning is not an assurance.
• We never show you a percentage or a score. A number invites you to treat a guess as a measurement, and it would tell whoever is running the scam how close they got.
• Coverage is limited to what you show it. It has no view of anything else.
• The assistant’s answers are generated with the help of an AI model and may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
• We are not responsible for third-party content or services. A link, an app, a bank or a caller that LETHI comments on is not ours. LETHI does not open suspicious links for you.

LETHI gives advice and suggests steps. You decide what to do, and the consequences of your decisions are yours. Nothing in the app transfers, blocks, freezes, refunds or recovers money; nothing in it contacts your bank or any authority for you; nothing in it prevents you from doing what you choose to do.

If you tell LETHI you completed a step, that is your record of your own action. We do not verify it.

You may invite one person to be your trusted contact, so they can be alerted when something serious happens to you. You may also be one other person’s trusted contact. One of each, in this release.

• You do not hand us an address book. You create an invitation link and share it yourself, however you like. They become your trusted contact only by opening it and accepting from their own LETHI account, which they must create if they do not have one. Nobody who has not signed up themselves is named in our systems by the invitation.
• The number you save to call them is optional, and it is yours alone. Once they have joined you may save the phone number you would call them on, so a serious warning can offer you a one-tap call. By saving it you confirm you got that number legitimately and that they would accept a call from you on it. Only you can see it, LETHI never sends anything to it — there is no SMS or calling channel in this product — and you can delete it at any time. If they ask us to remove it, we will.
• Share the link only with someone you actually want to reach, and only with their agreement. The link is single-use and stops working after 72 hours.
• A trusted contact never sees your content. Not your messages, not your chats, not your screenshots, not your original evidence. There is no setting that changes this. The two permission levels control when they are told something happened, never what you submitted.
• A trusted contact cannot resolve, edit or delete your cases, and cannot see the case itself.
• An invitation is only accepted by an affirmative action from the other person. Opening a link does not accept it, and neither does ignoring it.
• You can change the level, end the relationship, or block someone at any time. It takes effect on their next request, not at their next sign-in.
• Alerts are delivered over push notifications, and — for a background detection on your own phone — as a warning drawn over the app you are in. Both depend on your device, your network and Google’s delivery. We do not guarantee that an alert arrives or arrives in time. The notification itself says only that there is an alert — the substance stays inside the app, behind your device lock. The app shows you whether an alert was requested, delivered, opened or failed, so you can see the truth rather than assume it.

Do not:

• use LETHI to harass, surveil, stalk or profile another person;
• submit another person’s private content without a lawful reason to hold it;
• upload unlawful material, or content you have no right to share;
• attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, retrain or resell the models or the service;
• probe, overload or interfere with the service, or evade its rate limits, its identity checks or its security controls;
• send an invitation link to someone who has not agreed to receive one, or use invitations to contact a person repeatedly after they have declined or blocked you;
• use LETHI to build a competing dataset or product, or scrape it automatically;
• present LETHI’s output as a professional assessment, a certification or a guarantee to anyone else.

• What you submit stays yours. You grant us only the licence we need to run the service for you: to process, analyse, transmit to our processors, store and display your content back to you, for as long as we hold it under the Privacy Policy.
• We do not train models on your content unless you opt in. The “model improvement” consent is off by default and you can withdraw it.
• The app, its interface, its content and its models are ours (or our licensors’). These Terms give you a personal, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app. Nothing more transfers.
• Feedback you send us may be used freely to improve the product, without obligation to you. It routes to a human and never automatically changes a model.

LETHI is provided [PRICING_STATEMENT — currently: free of charge, with no in-app purchases and no subscription]. If that ever changes, privacy controls, data export and account deletion remain free and immediate. They will never be placed behind a payment.

We may change, suspend or discontinue features. Where a change materially reduces what the service does for you, we will give reasonable notice through the app. We do not promise uninterrupted availability.

We may update these Terms. When we do, we raise the version, show it to you and ask you to agree. Continuing to use the app after a material change requires your acceptance of the new version — silence is not acceptance. This is enforced rather than merely stated: the service records which version you accepted, and an account whose acceptance is against an older version is treated as one that has not finished agreeing.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer-protection law.

Consumers. If you use LETHI as a consumer, you keep every right your local consumer law gives you and nothing here removes them. In Argentina, this includes your rights under Ley 24.240 de Defensa del Consumidor. In the EU and UK, it includes your statutory rights in respect of digital services.

Subject to that, and to the maximum extent the law allows:

• The service is provided “as is”. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
• We are not liable for losses caused by a scam or fraud that LETHI did not detect, or for a decision you made after reading its advice, or for a third party’s acts.
• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the service.
• Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to [LIABILITY_CAP — for a free service, state the figure or the applicable statutory floor; for consumers in the EU/UK/ Argentina, confirm with counsel that any cap is enforceable].

These Terms are governed by the law of the Argentine Republic, and the courts of the Province of Buenos Aires have jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own country of residence and you keep the protection of that country’s mandatory law.

Argentine consumers may also use the COPREC / Ventanilla Única Federal consumer channels. EU consumers may use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform.

Before formal proceedings, please contact us at support@lethi.net — most problems are faster to fix that way.

• If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stands.
• We may transfer these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets; you will be told and may close your account.
• Not enforcing a term once does not waive it.
• These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the service.
